Went to a cookout in South Dartmouth this afternoon. A beautiful landscaped home right on Buzzard Bay. These hydrangea's were one of the bushes in the yard.

Endless Summer - Day 190

Ocean Bluff Today - Day 188

Went to Marshfield for an early dinner today. It was a beautiful afternoon. The meal was great at the Fairview Restaurant. The ocean view is fabulous.

First Sign of Autumn - Day 187

Over the weekend I saw that one of the maple trees in the Quincy Recreation Complex was starting to turn. I took a drive over there today to take a photograph. It's the first tree I have found in Quincy.

Beautiful Afternoon - Day 186

What a beautiful day in Hull today. Went out for lunch with my mother and she was nice to drive with me around town as I tried to capture the day. The photo is at the end of A Street (maybe the beginning) by the bay.

Irish Step Dancers - Day 185

The Forbes School of Irish Dance were one of the entertainment groups that we got to enjoy yesterday at Artsfest.

Artsfest Day Two - Day 184

Another fun filled day. The Irish Step Dancers gave a wonderful performance. With all the excitement of the last two days it's going to be a early night for me.

Artsfest Day One - Day 183

What a fun day. I'm so tired, all I did is sell and talk and talk. The entertainment was great with the St. Kevin's Alumni Drum and Bugle. I think everyone was over fifty years old. Then the American Chinese Art Society entertained us.

Artsfest Opening Reception - Day 182

Tonight was the opening reception for Artsfest. Always a very nice evening. I took a photo of my winning photograph. It isn't the best photo of my entry due to the lighting tonight. You will have to come to the show to see it in person.

Getting Ready - Day 181

Artsfest will happen this weekend. The tents are up and the artwork was hung this morning. I helped to hang the children's work. There are a lot of talented children that live in Quincy.

I am looking forward to having a table during the show to sell my photography and talking with old acquaintances. Also receiving the honor of winning third place in the Black & White photography category.

Sakonnet Vineyards - Day 177

Today George and I went on a field trip with camera club to Little Compton, RI. One of the stops was at a Vineyard then to the town commons and sea shore. A beautiful town that gave up the offer to have their historic church used in the movie Witches of Eastwick because they didn't want anyone to find their beautiful town. Cohasset said yes and the film was filmed there. Had a nice day.

General Sylvanus Thayer House - Day 175

While I was driving to Braintree the other day I stopped at the General Thayer house on Washington Street in Braintree. I already knew he was a teacher at West Point but just learned he was the Father of Technological Education in the United States. He established West Point as the first engineering school.

Braintree Yacht Club - Day 174

Yesterday while I was traveling from Weymouth heading to Braintree to purchase some note card envelopes. I headed towards Weymouth Landing. The road I would normally use to turn on to behind the landing is still there but I found that the MBTA train is using most of the land in the valley for a station and parking. One lot is across from the Braintree Yacht Club at the top of the hill. I have seen the Yacht Club from the back many times but this is the first time I have seen it from across the river.

Abigail Adams Birthplace - Day 173

Since I have been taking pictures of the Adams family remembered, today's photo is Abigail's birthplace in Weymouth. Her birthplace is just down the street from where I went to buy gas for my car today. Their price is 2.37 a gallon. Best price I have seen.

Abigail and John Quincy - Day 172

One of the statues in Quincy Square is of Abigail Adams and her son John Quincy Adams. I have heard they were placed across the street from John Adams to represent the distance that they endured for many years while John was Ambassador in Europe.

First Apartment - Day 171

When George and I were first married our first apartment was called the Executive House on Hancock Street in Quincy. (name has changed) It was the first high rise apartment building in Quincy. We lived on the eighth floor which you could see Quincy Bay through the apartment windows. I called it my widows walk of the early 70's. George was in the merchant marine sailing for US Line. When his ship was returning from Europe I could see his Ship come over the horizon and I would know it was time to drive to East Boston to meet him. Those were the days.

Gun Rock Further Down - Day 170

Brought some photo note cards to the Carousel Shop this morning. Then went to see the view from the home of the people I took the family portraits of a couple weeks ago. She told me I can go in her yard whenever I want to take photos. My best photos are from other peoples homes. Earl is gone. Not a ripple in the seas.

After Earl - Day 169

Took a drive down to Nantasket Beach this morning to check on the surf. George was right again it's an north easterly swell with a north westerly wind (ergo counter acting each other). Making the swells smaller. He's so smart.

When you drive down Southern Artery a lighthouse has withheld time. I believe years ago it was Quincy Oil Company.

Quincy Icons - Day 167

I decided to post a Quincy icon today. One of my childhood memories was my girlfriend Nancy's mother and father use to take us to Dairy Queen on Washington Street, Quincy Point for ice cream. I got a chocolate dipped cone today, I haven't been there in years. I will be going back soon it was delicious on this hot day.
